This is the time to reflect on the past year. On the whole it has been a very good year. Everyone is healthy and my son is home. Well not really home. He came home over Labor Day weekend and moved into his own place at the end of the week. We have seen him more now that he doesn't live here than when he did.
Everyone makes New Year's resolution this time of year. I've been thinking about how I could make a resolution and make it meaningful. This past Saturday, the three of us visited my aunt, uncle, and quite a number of cousins. Aaron got to meet quite a few people he didn't know and I got to see some cousins I grew up with. We shared photos and "remember when's" My mother's cousin Ruth held the family get together. She does it every year, but this is the first year we went. Nobody knew I was coming, so it was a great big surprise to everyone. My Aunt Maxine came out by herself. I loved spending time with her and Ruth. Her daughter Sally and my cousin Patty was there with her children. I've missed out on a lot by not staying in touch. So this leads to one of my New Year's resolution -- to stay more connected with my mother's side of the family. Of course I brought my camera and I got some good photos of everyone. Now I just need to go back to Max and Ruth and have them tell me who everyone is in the photos. LOL!!!
My second NYR is to take more photos. I want to become more proficient using my camera and hopefully be able to earn some money with it.
2008 is going to be a WONDERFUL year!!!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone

Christmas Eve
It is Christmas Eve and everything is wonderful. My sister and brother-in-law came to visit before the holidays. It was very nice to have both here to our house. They had a restful time according to my sister. They called this morning and said they made it home safe and sound.
My son is bringing his girlfriend over tonight. We will be having our traditional pork pies, tomato soup and salad. He is going to make one of the pies. The tradition is transferring to another generation. Tomorrow, we will celebrate Christmas and open our gifts to each other, but I have already received the best gift a mother could receive -- her only child home from Iraq safe and sound. God Bless all the other mothers who's sons and daughters are not home this year. May God keep them all safe.

Just an Ordinary Work Week
Last Saturday, we went to a tree lighting ceremony in Leicester with our friends Sharon and Kurt. I have added the photo of the day. This is my favorite. It was of the lights on the inside the Federated Church. Check my website for more photos www.daylehlos.com to see more from that night.
This week at work has been real busy. Not much time to think about taking photos. We go a little snow on Monday and its been so cold, the snow hasn't melted.

Thanksgiving at the Nistaments
Wow!!!! Thanksgiving was wonderful this year. Aaron was home and we all went to Sharon and Kurt's for dinner. As always, it was a complete ruckus. I took a small video so everyone can see how wonderfully crazy it was. The turkey and the 99 different types of squash tasted great. Sharon makes a fabulous spread.
Ed and I went out on a photo safari later Thursday night looking for my Christmas card image. I did get it. Everyone will see it shortly. Friday the electrician came and rewired the phone lines. Now my internet connection is blazing fast and I have a new ceiling fan in the our bedroom and two new ceiling lights in the entry way and hallway. Work on the house is moving along smoothly.
Ed and Aaron brought up all our Christmas stuff. Ed also put up the tree on Sunday. It still needs to be decorated. I am getting to that in bits and pieces.

What does it mean "Vacation"
This has been a working vacation. As you can see the patio was replaced. We now have a guest room that is semi-done. I have filled in all the nail holes, the wals need to be washed, then on to choosing the color for the walls. Oh what to choose.
Maddy just came in the room and put her nose up on the desk. She is asking for a cookie. Luckily she is not an inch taller. She is talking to me. She wants another cookie.
Talk to you soon!!!

Yesterday was our 34th wedding anniversary. We went out to dinner with the Ebersolds. It is wonderful to celebrate with friends. It was great. Food and conversation were fabulous. Ed gave me a dozen carnations and a card-- My Favorites.
This morning, we started working in the closet of the office. We got the walls washed, the holes filled and the woodwork taped. Tomorrow, we will get it painted. The closet is going to be a book shelf. Once the shelving is up, I can get them loaded. All while this is being done, I got to fill holes in the new guest room (the old office). Ed took the counter tops down yesterday and the shelving down today.
We are supposed to be on vacation and we are working harder than when we are at work.
That's all for now. See you soon.

Thursday, November 8

Well, today is the 26th anniversary of when Ed and I renewed our wedding vows in church. Tomorrow is our 34th wedding anniversary. We are going out to dinner tomorrow night to celebrate with some friends. Then we are on vacation for a week. I have attached a photo of the girls so everyone can see who I am talking about when I mention the "girls". The one in the car is Mason and she is 5 years old and Madison (Maddie) is on the ground. She is 2 years old.
They bring alot of joy and laughter into our household.

Welcome!!!
Welcome to my blog. In this space, you will read just some of my musing about almost anything. You will see some photographs that I have taken. Some of these photos will be personal. I like to take pictures my two golden retrievers. They really live a very charmed life.
I hope everyone enjoys my ramblings.
