It is a quaint little town. While we were there, we went to the Hallmark Museum of Photography. There were three photographers on display. We walked down to the falls and I took a pano of the canal that diverts part of the Connecticut River. We watched the fish going up stream to spawn. They have put in fish ladders to help the shad and salmon go up stream. I made us a picnic lunch and we ate across from the museum. While we were there, a mother and son park their cars and the young man quickly got out of the car with tripod and camera bag in tow. His mother patiently waited for him on a part bench. They were from Missouri and came to Turners Falls because the young man had an interview at the Hallmark Institute of Photography. I told the mother I was jealous because I would love to go to school there too. Maybe when I retire. The young man showed us his portfolio and he is a very good photographer. He has the passion.

We headed down the bike path that runs down along the canal. It was a nice walk and I would like to go back with my bike to do the whole thing. We circled back through town and made the comment to Ed that all the buildings seemed to be made of brick. He said it was probably because lumber was a money crop in that area because of the paper mills and they didn't use wood for houses. As we came long Avenue A, we saw this barber shop and because it was Ed's, I had to take a photo.

We came home by way of route 122 instead of coming back by the highway. It was a real nice day. See my gallery for more photos of the day.

See you soon.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_eE23FAvrW7A/SFeXleO0xSI/AAAAAAAAADc/3UADNk01so8/s400/eds+barber+shop.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212801763730834722" />

Hot, Hot, Hot

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_eE23FAvrW7A/SE-nhWiwYlI/AAAAAAAAADU/rhWm40kv164/s400/rhodie.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210567485319832146" />
The weather has been excruciating for the past week. It's been above 95 all week. Just a a few days ago it was in the 60's. All I have done is move the sprinkler around to keep all the plants watered. It should be interesting.

Well that's all for now.

WOW, Spring is finally Here!!!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_eE23FAvrW7A/SDgLgo9hrnI/AAAAAAAAADM/BQtlTS4Ryhw/s320/LL+Pano.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5203922024805805682" />
I have been real busy taking photos and have been working on making panorama photos of local scenes around the Brookfields. Here is one I have done of Lake Lashaway. You can see the other one if you go over to my gallery. The weather has been great. Last week, Ed and I went to Florida to visit Cathy and Mac. We spent the whole day at Epcot. Check the gallery for more photos. We also saw Cirque De Sole. It was AWESOME!!!. If you get a chance to see to do hesitate to do so.

Ed was wondering why the birdseed was going down so fast. We have been having a visitor -- Mr or Mrs Chipmunk. I took some video and I will post it later.

It is Memorial Day weekend and we will be going to the campground. I think my project for this weekend will be to look for Patriotic images. I did have my small Canon Powershot with me and did get a couple of good shots of the arch and of the statue of Lewis and Clark. So my trip wasn't all business. For those of you who do not know who or what Dana is, it is one of the towns that was submerged when the Quabbin Reservoir was made. You can still walk to the center of town. Well we left Saturday morning, not thinking too much about rain we got last night, but when we arrived at Gate 40, the road leading to Dana was shear ice. If we had crampon or ice skates we probably could have gotten there with a lot of work. This part of the Quabbin is about 35 minutes north of East Brookfield. Well maybe next weekend. I did get a couple of images from along side the road on the way home. There is a couple more in my gallery.

Ed turns 60

My husband turned sixty on the 24th of January. Here is a photo of him waiting for spring.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_eE23FAvrW7A/R5-uGaW8UwI/AAAAAAAAACM/0_N8j7QYlQI/s320/20080127-IMG_0062.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5161035123167875842" />

I have been sitting here printing out postcard invitations for my husband's birthday. On the whole it has been a very good year. Everyone is healthy and my son is home. Well not really home. He came home over Labor Day weekend and moved into his own place at the end of the week. We have seen him more now that he doesn't live here than when he did.

Everyone makes New Year's resolution this time of year. I've been thinking about how I could make a resolution and make it meaningful. This past Saturday, the three of us visited my aunt, uncle, and quite a number of cousins. Aaron got to meet quite a few people he didn't know and I got to see some cousins I grew up with. We shared photos and "remember when's" My mother's cousin Ruth held the family get together. She does it every year, but this is the first year we went. Nobody knew I was coming, so it was a great big surprise to everyone. My Aunt Maxine came out by herself. I loved spending time with her and Ruth. Her daughter Sally and my cousin Patty was there with her children. I've missed out on a lot by not staying in touch. So this leads to one of my New Year's resolution -- to stay more connected with my mother's side of the family. Of course I brought my camera and I got some good photos of everyone. Now I just need to go back to Max and Ruth and have them tell me who everyone is in the photos. LOL!!!

My second NYR is to take more photos. I want to become more proficient using my camera and hopefully be able to earn some money with it.

2008 is going to be a WONDERFUL year!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone

Christmas Eve

It is Christmas Eve and everything is wonderful. My sister and brother-in-law came to visit before the holidays. It was very nice to have both here to our house. They had a restful time according to my sister. They called this morning and said they made it home safe and sound.

My son is bringing his girlfriend over tonight. We will be having our traditional pork pies, tomato soup and salad. He is going to make one of the pies. The tradition is transferring to another generation. Tomorrow, we will celebrate Christmas and open our gifts to each other, but I have already received the best gift a mother could receive -- her only child home from Iraq safe and sound. God Bless all the other mothers who's sons and daughters are not home this year. May God keep them all safe.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE

Madison and the Peanut Butter Jar

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_eE23FAvrW7A/R2v98hHup6I/AAAAAAAAAA0/68_Tw9rdtrI/s320/20071215-IMG_0102.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5146486215325689762" />
Maddy was helping me make doggy biscotti cookies for all her friends. Thanksgiving was wonderful this year. Aaron was home and we all went to Sharon and Kurt's for dinner. As always, it was a complete ruckus. I took a small video so everyone can see how wonderfully crazy it was. The turkey and the 99 different types of squash tasted great. Sharon makes a fabulous spread.

Ed and I went out on a photo safari later Thursday night looking for my Christmas card image. I did get it. Everyone will see it shortly. Friday the electrician came and rewired the phone lines. Now my internet connection is blazing fast and I have a new ceiling fan in the our bedroom and two new ceiling lights in the entry way and hallway. Work on the house is moving along smoothly.

Ed and Aaron brought up all our Christmas stuff. Ed also put up the tree on Sunday. It still needs to be decorated. I am getting to that in bits and pieces.

What does it mean "Vacation"

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eE23FAvrW7A/RznpxRIPPsI/AAAAAAAAAAU/WNcPw8slLgM/s320/20071112-IMG_0011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5132390282986208962" />

This has been a working vacation. Oh what to choose.

Maddy just came in the room and put her nose up on the desk. She is asking for a cookie. Luckily she is not an inch taller. She is talking to me. We went out to dinner with the Ebersolds. It is wonderful to celebrate with friends. It was great. Food and conversation were fabulous. Ed gave me a dozen carnations and a card-- My Favorites.

This morning, we started working in the closet of the office. We got the walls washed, the holes filled and the woodwork taped. Tomorrow, we will get it painted. The closet is going to be a book shelf. Once the shelving is up, I can get them loaded. All while this is being done, I got to fill holes in the new guest room (the old office). Ed took the counter tops down yesterday and the shelving down today.

We are supposed to be on vacation and we are working harder than when we are at work.

That's all for now. See you soon.

Thursday, November 8

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eE23FAvrW7A/RzNmvxIPPrI/AAAAAAAAAAM/nASRtZdHRk0/s320/20071020-IMG_0047-2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5130557371332902578" />
Well, today is the 26th anniversary of when Ed and I renewed our wedding vows in church. Tomorrow is our 34th wedding anniversary. We are going out to dinner tomorrow night to celebrate with some friends. Then we are on vacation for a week. I have attached a photo of the girls so everyone can see who I am talking about when I mention the "girls". The one in the car is Mason and she is 5 years old and Madison (Maddie) is on the ground. She is 2 years old.

They bring alot of joy and laughter into our household.
